ITALIAFEST IS BA Home!! The Italian Canadian Club of Milton (ICCM) celebrating it’s CK at our New 50th Anniversary and La Rose Specialty Foods and Fine Italian Bakery will be hosting this collaborative, ItaliaFest 2019, on Sunday August 18th from
11:00-6:00pm at the Italian Canadian Club of Milton located at 104 Tremaine Road just south of Kelso in Milton.
The beginnin Artists group owes a lot to happenstance as local artists g of the Escarpment came together to lend their creative talents to the Rotary Clubs ‘Camel Race’ fundraiser back in 2013.
“We had a really fun time together,” says Diana Tuszynski, artist and business owner, “so why don’t we take this group and do something with it. We decided it would be fun to show together, as it would be an efficient use of our time as well as to pool our resources.”
Kids entertainment was top of mind at this year’s annual SuperStarrs 2 SuperHeros event – benefiting the Toronto Sick Kids Foundation. Children visiting with their families were encouraged to dress up as their favorite fictional character or superhero. The event’s organizers are Leesa Ervin and Deana Wilson. Wilson is a Milton mother who aims to raise awareness for cystic fibrosis – her son Liam was diagnosed with the disease at 3 weeks old.
Summer in Milton for the last four years has meant cricket on the pitch at Sherwood Park. The Events Ontario Softball Cricket League kicked off its fourth season with an event June 15, 2019 at the EC Drury High Schools sports complex.
Between a the Theme song from Close Encounters of the Third Kind, presentation of and the Raiders March from Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, MPO Music Director Sabatino Vacca led a surprisingly intimate and humourous question and answer period with an audience of almost 500 attendees. One guest queried which instrument Vacca felt was the most integral within an orchestra. Before he could respond, a musician on stage raised his trombone up high in answer, followed quickly by laughter and a succession of musicians raising their own instruments. After a poll of the many children in attendance, a youth near the front asked how one might join the Milton Philharmonic Orchestra and the Music Director encouraged him warmly to audition for the group.
Pastor Howard Sullivan is known in Milton – at the hospital, at Allendale, at Knox- for his caring nature. Bereaved families when they have no pastor of their own, repeatedly ask for Howard to lead funeral ceremonies because of his concern and compassion.
For six exciting hours the “Winning for Health” Milton District Hospital Foundation Gift of Health Gala became Las Vegas North on Saturday, May 4th at the Burlington Convention Centre in Burlington. The theme for the campaign was inspired by Rosanna Conteduca, Chair of the Milton District Hospital Foundation Gala Committee. Vanessa Briguglio, Major Gifts and Community Engagement Officer, shared that “bringing the Las Vegas theme to life was six months in the making.”

And that is exactly what Big Brothers Big Sisters of Halton and Hamilton strives to accomplish—to develop and fortify healthy relationships through individual and group mentorship programs that provide support, guidance, and opportunities for children and youth in need. To help the growth of their programs and continue to serve more youth and make real, positive changes in their lives, Tim Hortons hosted its 3rd annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake at Champs Family Entertainment Centre on April 5th.
In a flourish of melodic harmony and enthusiasm, the Milton Choristers’ Spring Concert will complete their 50th Anniversary year. Brightly coloured shirts add to the cheerful theme of hope and anticipation for the future. “We liked the idea of wearing bright colours!” said their Director, “to go with the colours of spring flowers.”
The 2019 Milton Chamber of Commerce Awards Gala held at the Granite Ridge Golf Club on Friday, April 12th was a night made to shine from the glint of cocktail glasses to the glitter of table settings to the sparkling conversations between friends and colleagues dressed to the nines.
