May 7th at the First Ontario Arts Centre Milton was the inaugural Milton Friendship Project Bus Tour by Arts Milton. The Friendship Project 2023 began with a meet and greet in February, and they are currently in the midst of 14 activities across Milton. Tony the Milton Bus Driver took the Milton Friendship group on a tour to showcase significant landmarks of Milton, including Arts Milton’s 10 traffic boxes, which were created through their Exclusively Inclusive program. Tony also highlighted that the bus being used is a brand-new addition to the towns fleet.
The Milton Community Fund provides funding for The Friendship Project. This initiative pairs newcomer families with host families who have been living in the community for at least three years. The families engage in various
by Rick Di Lorenzo FRIENDSHIP PROJECT 2023 activities together, allowing newcomers to learn more about Milton’s arts and culture in an enjoyable way. Arts Milton is a non-profit organization with the aim of “Creating Community With The Arts.” Their innovative initiatives have helped the Milton community better understand and appreciate art while providing artists with increased exposure opportunities.
About 10 years ago my family got to take part in one of the annual Milton Friendship projects as a host facilitator and we greatly enjoyed the experience.
Arts Milton continues to both help local artists in our town have a voice and medium as well as serve as a focus to help Miltonians old and new interact and experience the Arts. Thank you Arts Milton for helping organize todays Bus Tour.
