Milton District Hospital Foundation would like to thank La Rose Speciality Foods and Fine Italian Bakery for their continuous support through their Plastic Bags program. This year through their amazing initiative their customers have donated $5,800 towards the Milton Hospital Foundation.
The Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation (TJSF) and Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) made a $28,000 cheque presentation to Halton schools Thursday morning at Troy’s Diner.
Since 2015, TJSF has donated over $100,000 to local schools in support of initiatives such as mental health, inclusive classrooms, breakfast programs, literacy, coding, art workshops and classroom technology.
On the morning of March 9, Milton Town Hall was bustling with excitement and enthusiasm from local residents, faculty and students representing Milton high schools, town councilors, and members from various local businesses and non-profit organization— all getting ready for the 3rd annual “March on Main,” hosted by CFUW Milton and District, in celebration of International Women’s Day. Powerful messages were written across an array of signs, such as “Equal Work Equal Pay”, “Press for Progress”, and this year’s theme, “#BalanceforBetter.” According to The World Economic Forum’s 2018 Global Gender Gap Report, the gender gap is widening and achieving gender parity globally will take 202 years. Of the 149 countries assessed, Canada ranks #16 in total, but only 50th in terms of equal pay for similar work.
The 6th Annual Denim & Diamonds Gala will take place on April 27th at the Gambrel Barn in the historic Country Heritage Park. Hosted by the Rotary Club of Milton, the event is planned in support of the Milton District Hospital Foundation (Paediatric Family Waiting Lounge), and the Townsend Smith Hospice.

The Milton Public Market is setting the stage to become the largest outdoor public market in Ontario, a collective of over 250 artisanal makers every Saturday and Sunday from May 25th to September 15th, each day from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Milton Fairgrounds. Rescue Junction, a popular bluegrass gospel group from the Waterloo area, is coming to St. Paul’s United, 123 Main St. Milton, on Sunday, March 24, 2019. This group of five gifted musician and vocalists have been travelling and singing together since 2009. Originally comprised of brother and sister Kyle and Katelyn Gerber, who play mandolin and guitar respectively, the band has grown to include Roger Martin on banjo, Dallas Roth on upright bass and Nick Huber on dobro.

This is the story of immigrants who have contributed successfully to society in many ways. The other film, STEADFAST, celebrates the life and times of Doctor Jean Augustine, the first black woman minister of Canada.
