In 1996, during her graduating year of high school, Leslie Wells suffered a life-altering spinal cord injury in a pool accident. In a heartfelt show of community support, her friends organized the very first Leslie Wells Slo-Pitch Tournament. What began as a single act of solidarity has since blossomed into an annual tradition of giving back.

For more than a decade, the tournament was led by Leslie’s close friends and the Milton Lions Club. When the original organizers stepped down, the Lions Club—along with a dedicated team of volunteers— carried the torch, ensuring this impactful event continued to grow.

Now known as the LWSP Charity Slo-Pitch Tournament, it has become Milton’s largest tournament, attracting more than 2,000 participants, spectators, and volunteers, ages 18 to 80. Over the years, proceeds have supported many meaningful causes, including Milton Public Schools, Milton Hospital, the Salvation Army, the Townsend Smith Foundation, and numerous other local and Halton-based charities.

This year’s tournament was another great success!
