On a Sunday morning in August 20 years ago Troy Newton opened the doors at Troy’s Diner on main street in Milton for the first time. His “Coca Cola” themed All-Day Breakfast diner quickly became the most popular diner in Milton. I should know, for the first 5 years I was there so often that my breakfast order of Steak medium-rare, eggs over easy and a diet coke reached the point where you are only asked if you’d like your regular when you came in.

The Muslim Advisory Council of Canada (MACC) adapted its diverse programming to address community needs for Ramadan amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Building on its ability to engage the community, and through relationships with the food industry, the Muslim Advisory Council of Canada responded by bringing joy to the community via a virtual Ramadan Cupcake Showdown, a first of it’s kind in the world.

The smell of freshly baked bread, vibrantly decorated cakes with icing that begs to be touched, and customers busy selecting deli meats while catching up with neighbours waiting in line. This is a small slice of what La Rose bakery happily serves up on a daily basis.  This bakery, which is so much more than just a bakery, has been a staple in the town of Milton since 1982.  This year they are celebrating 35 years of memories and there are no plans to stop.
