On Tuesday November 19th, the Rotary Clubs of Milton, Acton and Georgetown (the North Halton Cluster) held a dinner meeting at the Granite Ridge Golf club in honour of the District Governor Lesley Barmania (Rotary District 7080). This meeting served as an exciting opportunity for the members of the three clubs to connect with each other as well as to learn about the projects being undertaken by each club.
Pinkies were up on November 3, at the fifth annual High Tea for Hospice for the Townsend Smith Foundation. This year the event found a new home at the Italian Canadian Club of Milton (ICCM) and a new theme with the popular television show Downton Abbey.
Just like the Santa Claus Parade is a signal that the Christmas season is officially upon us, so too is Celebrate the Season, the FASM members art show, displayed in the Holcim Gallery until December 28th at the First Ontario Arts Centre Milton.
November 17th marked the 2019 Milton Santa Claus Parade. The streets were crowded with parade goers over an hour before the parade was set to begin. This year was special as Colonel Chris Hadfield joined his parents and Mayor Krantz in the Lead Car at the start of the Parade. Residents were thrilled to see Col. Hadfield who spent significant amount of time talking and meeting with people both at the start and end of the Parade.
The Miracle on Main initiative has raised millions through donations and sponsorships for underprivileged families, McMaster Children’s Hospital, SickKids, local charities and school boards. Last year, Halton Regional Police Services merged Toys for Tots into Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation’s Miracle on Main Street and the signature event is happening on Monday, December 9th, 2019 in Milton. It is a Christmas carnival with rides, free food and refreshments, entertainment and a massive collection of toys for those in need. In addition to the anticipated attendees, students are bussed in from schools to partake in the activities where admission is FREE with a donation of a new unwrapped toy.
Halton Gujarati Seniors Samaj (HGSS) hosted the Diwali Festival of Light at the Milton Bible Church on Chisolm Drive on Sunday, November 10th. HGSS is a notfor-profit seniors group representing an association of Gujurati-speaking seniors aged 56 to 74 years who live in the Halton region.
2019 marks the 10th Anniversary of Canada’s Culture Days program – a three-day nation-wide event which invites community members to participate in free, interactive arts and culture activities. For the past seven years, local non-profit arts group Arts Milton has hosted Milton Culture Days at the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton.
The weather gods smiled down on the 8th annual Italia Fest 2019 presented in collaboration with LaRose Specialty Foods and Fine Italian Bakery on Sunday, August 18th bestowing a sunny afternoon for the outdoor family festival and fundraiser.
The 39th Annual Strawberry Fair took place on Saturday, June 22 – a day which just might have been the most beautiful in the summer of 2019 thus far. Presented as always by the Milton District Hospital Auxiliary, the event drew crowds from all over the city.
ITALIAFEST IS BA Home!! The Italian Canadian Club of Milton (ICCM) celebrating it’s CK at our New 50th Anniversary and La Rose Specialty Foods and Fine Italian Bakery will be hosting this collaborative, ItaliaFest 2019, on Sunday August 18th from
11:00-6:00pm at the Italian Canadian Club of Milton located at 104 Tremaine Road just south of Kelso in Milton.
