The Milton community gathered on October 3 for a special Thanksgiving fundraising dinner held at the Albatross Restaurant & Banquet Hall at Granite Ridge Golf Club. The event welcomed residents from across the community to share a traditional Thanksgiving meal, followed by an evening of music provided by DJ Splinter (Mario Anzini).
The dinner served a greater purpose: raising funds to stock the shelves of the local food bank in time for the
holiday season. Through ticket sales, raffles, and business sponsorships, the event successfully generated the support needed to provide food assistance to local families.

Tickets were sold at $800 per table of eight or $100 per person, with additional fundraising through raffle ticket sales and a cash bar. Many community members and businesses contributed prizes, sponsorships, or volunteer time to help make the evening a success.

The organizing committee included: Enzo Turco, Alyssa Turco, Mary Camastra, David Wyllie, Heather Gerrits, Lori Szabo, Amir Karimzadah, Desiree Hamade, David Evans, Milena Evans, Pat Grisoni, Jo Anne Torrance, Mario Anzini, and Natalie Ricci Anzini.

Local businesses were invited to take part through table sponsorships, video recognition, raffle donations, and contributions to the “Wheel of Thanks” prize draws, which added excitement and community engagement throughout the night.
Following the October 3 event, the committee spent several weeks coordinating food purchases, pickups, and deliveries, working closely with local grocery partners. Their efforts ensured that all food items were delivered to Khi Milton, where they were prepared for distribution to the organization’s 1,000 unique clients expected to visit in December.

Organizers expressed their gratitude for the community’s enthusiastic participation and support. They credited the success of the initiative to the dedication of volunteers, donors, local grocers, and the many residents who attended the dinner.
“This is what community looks like,” the committee shared. “When people come together, everyone eats.” With the event’s success, planning for next year’s fundraiser is already underway, with organizers hopeful that the community’s generosity will continue to grow. There will also be new fun ways to sponsor!
