The Milton Soccer group held a friendly tournament today in support of ichallengediabetes.org (ICD) at the Milton Sports Park in September. It included a BBQ lunch organized by Milton Knights of Columbus with some Youth Sports Challenges activities with ICD in the morning. The funds raised went towards ICD which is a leader in exercise and diabetes with experts in the science who talk the talk and athletes who walk the walk. Thanks to Milton Soccer organizers Emil Matacz and Babjide Shiwoku for making this event possible in partnership with ICD

 

On September 9th, Halton made history with its inaugural Halton Fashion Show Charity Gala, at Glen Abbey Golf Club with a night of fashion and philanthropy. Hosted by Triton Events and orchestrated by Mariline Gheda, the gala supported the Milton District Hospital Foundation. Models graced the runway with elegance and confidence, presenting a stunning array of chic couture designs and timeless classics. They looked absolutely stunning thanks to Bombshell Studio for hair and makeup.

For the past ten years, Mississauga Halal Food Festival has showcased over 100+ businesses and has recorded attendees of over40000 every year. In 2022 we launched the Milton Halal Food Festival and felt incredibly blessed with the love and the support we got from the community. This year, the 2nd Annual Milton Halal Food Festival had over30,000 attendees and completely sold out satisfied vendors!

Milton Community Park on September 9th was the home to RADFEST 2023 Music Festival featuring 12 hours of 12 bands along with fully licensed drinks, food trucks, as well as games for the Youth and interactive vendor and sponsor areas. The event also helped serve as a fundraiser for local Milton charities such as the Townsend Smith Foundation (committed to building a hospice for North Halton). The 12 hour length of the Festival has allowed RADFEST to give an extensive selection of local bands from all kinds of music.

Milton’s Coptic Christian community welcomed Milton families July 22nd for its eightannual St Abanoub Festival. The event marks the life, and sacrifice of Abanoub a 12- year old Christian martyr in the fourth century. Organizer Ramy Boutros attributes the festival’s success to the people. “The human being is a social creature. They like to be at such a gathering and have fun. Especially our kids,” he said.

Halton’s First Pride Paradehappened on August 20th in downtown Milton. Sponsored by many local businesses it had a great turn out of residents, businesses, community groups and other supporters.

Organized by PRISM with supporting allies in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. It took place along Main Street in downtown Milton and had well over 1000 people attending along the route and in the parade itself.

Congratulations to Muslim Association of Milton (MAM) for their 13th Annual Fun Fair fundraiser today! They donated $5000 to Milton District Hospital Foundation while throwing a great community event. Food, magic show, face painting, animal show, halton regional police cruiser display, bouncy castles and many more. It was a record turn out with a lot of fun.

Helen Vatistis from Milton District Hospital Foundation thanked MAM their continued support. “You are part of our family and you continue to ensure that good healthcare remains a priority in the community” said Vatistis. She continued to congratulate them in their long term contributions to Milton “In these 14 years you have built an extraordinary space here and have grown every year. That takes work, courage and tenacity, as a fundraiser I congratulate you on the wonderful work you do” she said. Mayor Krantz echoed the sentiments saying “They contribute to the hospital on many occasions, they really do step up to the plate”.

“Together we can make a difference in the lives of those in need and contribute to the well being of our fellow community members. Our generous sponsors and the collective efforts of our volunteers and the MAM board of directors have made this event possible and for that we are immensely grateful.” Said Mumtaz Warsi a MAM spokesperson at the event.
