Halton’s First Pride Paradehappened on August 20th in downtown Milton. Sponsored by many local businesses it had a great turn out of residents, businesses, community groups and other supporters.

Organized by PRISM with supporting allies in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. It took place along Main Street in downtown Milton and had well over 1000 people attending along the route and in the parade itself.

Parade organizer and PRISM member Melanie Kay-Tremills had this to say after the parade’s conclusion “Still overwhelmed at the fact my vision came true and we actually had a pride parade in Milton. PRISM would like to thank every single supporter for helping us create the incredibly successful rst Pride Halton pride parade!”
“To the supporters who lined the streets to cheer us on, it took my breath away and made me cry just seeing your allyship. Christianne and I had some amazing friends that were along the street that just made the day that little extra special! Thankyou! “

“To every single participant that took part in the March …. You are all amazing , you showed up proud and loud , you marched and showed Halton there is a 2SLGBTQIA+ community here and we welcome everyone with open arms” continued Kay-Tremills in a subsequent post online.

Halton Healthcare Services (HHS which includes Milton District Hospital) were one of the many participants in the parade and they highlighted their support. “At Halton Healthcare, we believe that every individual deserves access to safe and inclusive healthcare. We are committed to creating an environment where everyone is treated with respect and compassion, regardless of their background or identity” said a HHS spokesperson.
