Sheena Drennan was recognized by the Milton District Hospital Auxiliary for 65 years of service. She received the Rita Ward award and 65-year pin. Below are her own words.
“How is it possible 65 years have gone by when all this time I have enjoyed working along with the kindest, most caring and dedicated volunteers to provide excellent patient care and raise funds to purchase much needed equipment. “
Community Foundation of Halton North (CFHN) Legacy Honours “An Unforgettable Evening with the Honourable Lisa Raitt and Honouree Ken Hartwick” was held in Milton on May 1st at Granite Ridge Golf Course. It was a fundraiser to help build an endowment fund for our future Hospice (Townsend Smith Foundation).
Milton Youth Theatre Productions (M.Y.T.P.) took to the stage with Rock of Ages Youth Edition at the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton. After five months of rehearsals these young rock wannabes (ages 5-18) felt the noise with five performances taking their audiences back to a wilder time, mid to late eighties. M.Y.T.P. is a triple threat teaching company that rehearses once a week, acting, singing, and dancing for their Main Stage productions. From the Sunset Strip, Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, to Bikini Bottom, M.Y.T.P. had a fun filled 22nd season.

The Milton Sikh Community gathered on April 4th for the Mayor’s Proclamation at Milton Town Hall declaring April Sikh Heritage Month. All levels of government were present (Federal MP Adam van Koeverden, Provincial MPP Zeeshan Hamid, Regional Sameera Ali and local Adil Khalqi) along with Mayor Krantz.
If you’ve ever walked through Milton with Kristina Tesser Derksen, you know she’s someone people stop to say hi to. A lifelong Milton resident, Kristina and her husband Chris have built their lives here— raising their four kids, running small businesses, and giving back to the community.
The Coldest Night of the Year walk has been celebrated in Canada since 2011. It’s aim is for to bring together family and friends to raise money for the hungry, homeless and hurting in 65 communities across Canada.
There are many interesting happenings around the Milton area. Vibrant outside activities can be seen especially during the summer months when citizens leave their cars at home or in a handy spot and spend their free time walking about, enjoying all that the town has to offer.
The Farmers’ Market attracts a multitude of citizens, many of whom rise early on Saturday Morning to buy fresh produce, meet friends, walk their dogs, listen to musicians, and also discover local artists,armed with paints and brushes painting au ‘Plein Air’. These talented people may be painting scenes at the market depicting swarms of local people around the colourful tents and shop fronts.
The Islamic Community Centre of Milton held a family friendly EID FEST on June 29th at their Masjid on 8069 Esquesing Line in Milton. The event was completed organized by youth members.“It was an honour and a privilege to thank and congratulate the organizers and everyone who supported the event”said MP Adam van Koeverden.“We are delighted to see our community come together in joy and unity for EidFest 2024. The Secret Gardens of Milton Tour is an annual event held by the Milton District Horticultural Society and is their main fundraiser.All proceeds go to growing Milton area gardens by purchasing plants,soil, mulch, and fertilizer. Planting and maintaining gardens are done by dedicated volunteers. The Milton gardens they help beautify so others may enjoy are:
Gardens on the tour included both large and small, urban and rural.The tour also partnered both Milton Gardens with Milton Artists. At the locations you could meet local artists,talk to them and also at some see them in the process of creating new pieces.
