The Milton Sikh Community gathered on April 4th for the Mayor’s Proclamation at Milton Town Hall declaring April Sikh Heritage Month. All levels of government were present (Federal MP Adam van Koeverden, Provincial MPP Zeeshan Hamid, Regional Sameera Ali and local Adil Khalqi) along with Mayor Krantz.
Sikh Heritage Month is an opportunity to show honour to the vibrant Sikh Community in Milton which makes significant contributions to Milton and its prosperity. The month helps share the rich, unique and diverse Sikh heritage and culture.
Sikhs all over Canada and internationally come together to celebrate Vaisakhi in April also known as Khalsa Day, signifying the creation of the Khalsa and the Sikh articles of faith By proclaiming the month of April as Sikh Heritage Month, the Town of Milton recognizes the important contributions Sikhs have made to the Milton community, economy, political and ethnic fabric.
