This Christmas David Geall of the Magical Lights of Milton is pairing up with Councillor Rick Di Lorenzo’s family who is creating a Milton Winter Wonderland to create the all new MDHF (Milton District Hospital Foundation) Christmas House Tour.

Adding Christmas magic to the town of Milton for over a decade, the Magical Lights Of Milton is a residential display located at 876 Willow Ave with over 40,000 lights synchronized individually to music. Stay in the warmth of your vehicle while the music comes through your FM radio at 99.7FM. The display runs until January 2nd.

On Saturday November 13th the Milton Community Resource Centre (MCRC) held it’s 7th annual Marketplace fundraiser in support of their free Empowerment Porgrams; The Infant Food Back, Period Poverty Initiative and the She Can! Girls Programs.

It’s that time of the year where we pause to reflect on the sacrifices made by our veterans and never forget what they did for us and future generations.

Milton’s Remembrance Day ceremony at Evergreen Cemetery on November 11th was a limited audience event due to covid19. This didn’t stop the low key ceremony from being respectful and serene with Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 136 – Milton, veterans, family and limited invitations being in attendance.

Milton Tim Horton’s owners stood by our local community again in organizing the local Smile Cookies campaign with sales going towards Darling Home For Kids. The campaign raised $41,906 which was presented to Darling in a recent cheque ceremony. The campaign ran from September 13 to 19th and 100% of proceeds from every Smile Cookie went to the charity.

In a light-hearted parody of our past federal election local Milton Councillor Rick Di Lorenzo held an election sign parody fundraiser for Milton District Hospital Foundation

(MDHF). A Sign was free to Milton residents if they made a small donation ($10 or more) to a local Milton charity, agree to follow local bylaws on placement and promise not to ever

throw it in the garbage. MDHF was Di Lorenzo’s preferred charity and local Milton residents supported this by donating $2343 directly to the hospital for the campaign.

On September 15th at Chudleigh’s farm in Milton the Milton Chamber of Commerce held their annual awards ceremony for the 2020 Community winners. The awards celebrate excellence in Milton and with the challenges people and businesses have been facing this past year it’s even more important to recognize success & perseverance. It was an elegant but socially distanced event with a small number of people keeping within covid19 limitations.

Milton’s annual Bocce Ball Tournament took place Saturday October 16 at the Italian Cultural Centre of Milton raising funds for the centre’s roof rehabilitation. The event aptly names Beer, Bites and Bocce was a great success. The clouds and wind left just when the games were starting to make for a sunny and warm game day event. The Rotary Club of Milton also donated their time to help with the BBQ and food.
