3rd Annual Halton Walk for Down Syndrome on June 17 at the Milton Fairgrounds in Milton. This was a fun, 2-km walk, open to family, friends, and the community to increase awareness about Down syndrome and to raise funds for research, education and advocacy programs.

The Milton Toastmasters Club held their 35th Anniversary and Open House on May 30th with nearly 60 people in attendance and it was a huge success. Having been a Milton Toastmaster member myself for eight years and on the executive as Vice President of membership in the past I can tell you what an amazing club this is. I not only learned a lot in the way of public speaking and improved on my listening skills but I made some amazing friends that I still have to this day.

On June 24th, 2017, the 820 Chris Hadfield Milton Air Cadets Squadron held their annual year end ceremony. Every year, the Cadets hold a year-end event which includes a graduation for the Cadets, a review from the Commanding officer as well as a special guest.

The dismal skies and consistent rainfall did not dissuade more than 800 Miltonians from their volunteer duties on Milton Good Neighbours Community Day – May 6, 2017. Attendees included singular do-gooders who created clean-up teams, as well as representation from various community groups including the Milton Youth Club, Beavers, the Muslim Association of Milton, and the Pakistani Canadian Council of Milton.

“One of the intrinsic goals of the Fine Arts Society of Milton (FASM) has been to engage the community in art appreciation, with an emphasis on local talent.” said FASM President Ursula McDermid as she described how in November of 2015, she met with the officials of the Milton District Hospital Expansion to consider bringing local art to the newly developed hospital.
DC Inc. Live Event Providers have partnered up with the Italian Canadian Club of Milton and are proud to release a new project we have been working on, and has finally come together. A new series of music concerts called “Music at the Escarpment” beginning Sunday June 11th 2017, at the Italian Canadian Club of Milton.

Giving back to the community is part of the Ahmadiyya’s faith. The spirit of generosity com was on display Sunday May 14, at the second annual Run for Milton. Funds raised went to the Milton District Hospital Foundation (MDHF.)
