In mid June we welcomed a long-awaited summer, as well as the kick off of Milton’s newest patio party! Music at the Escarpment is organized by DC Inc. Live Events and is hosted by the Italian Canadian Club of Milton on Tremaine Road.
Held on the back patio, with a view of the escarpment, the June 11 event was the first in a series of Sunday night concerts and featured a country theme. Attendees were invited to mix and mingle with the musicians before they took over the stage at 7 pm. Guests feasted on pulled pork and potato salad, and pulled beers from a canoe of ice water.
DC Inc. Live Events owner Dan Chasse and his wife Pauline envisioned this event series, and have taken the time to scout out the best performers – including former Guess Who guitarist Carl Dixon. To create the right vibe for each musical genre, they outfit the ICCM deck area with differing stage, lights and tenting for each concert. Pauline says, “We want people to come and enjoy the music with their friends and family. We are a very community focused company.”
The Italian Club feels the same way, and happily agreed to hold the concerts in their backyard. The club, though 60 years old, features a recently re-invigorated deck and updated bocce ball court. Board member Rosanna Conteduca describes the space, “With the beauty of the outdoors, opening up the patio emphasizes how stunning the escarpment is. This venue is perfect for concerts and Dan Chasse has the right vision for it.” The ICCM is moving away from the traditional social club, and looking outward to the community through events like this, and their charitable donation efforts.
June 11 performers include country singers Justin James, Rob Watts and Redhill Valleys. Both Rob and Justin

traveled a considerable distance to play here for Miltonians. Watts is part of a 7-member band based in Barrie, and came with 2 of its members to “play some music, and have a good time.” Justin James, a solo artist who writes his own music, is based in Sudbury, but spent a year in Nashville fine-tuning his craft.
