The 2nd Annual Halton Fashion Show took place in August raising funds for Milton District Hospital Foundation. Attendees included Mayor Krantz as well as several local politicians and dignitaries. The participants were bedazzled with live music and couture fashion with several of the models being local Milton residents.
On September 14th in downtown Milton you may have spotted over 120 women in green running around. They were taking part in an “Amazing Race” type event that brough teams of women together in a fun and competitive environment. They were raising funds and awareness for Townsend Smith Foundation’s goal of building a local hospice.
Milton Ganpati Visarjan Utsav was recently organized by VHP, MMG and Hindu SwayamSevak Sangh at the Milton fairgrounds on September 16th.
We have a new sports athlete who will be representing Canada on the world stage in October. On August 27th Matthew Lippa won the Canadian Bocce title and will be representing us in the World Seniors Bocce Men’s Championship in Turkey from October 17-20th 2024.
Run for Milton is a charity run/walk even that embraces the Milton community and provides financial support to Milton District Hospital Foundation. It’s organized by the Milton Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association. Their goal is to help the local community and be there for the people who are in need. MP Adam van Koeverden led the race attendees while carrying the Canadian Flag to the start of the race, it’s been an annual tradition of his participating in the race for many years now.
The Montessori School of Milton recently had a cheque presentation to recognize their $10,000 contribution to the Milton District Hospital Foundation. MSM Director Iram Amjad and Program Coordinator Sayedeh Shirazie were present along with MDHF members Jennifer Tasca and Katie McMilan.
I SKCON Milton hosted a vibrant Janmashtami celebration, honoring the birth of Lord Krishna, who appeared over 5,250 years ago. The festival began with a special Mangala Aarti at 5 AM, setting the tone for a day filled with spiritual activities.
The 10th Annual All For One Survivors Foundation Golf Tournament took part at Granite Ridge on August 25th. To date, the “All for One Survivors Foundation” has donated over $105,000.00 to assist with cancer patients their
transportation programs to assist getting to and from treatments. They have also continued to make financial contributions to Milton District Hospital Foundation for the purchase of critical medical equipment.
The U12AA 2013 Milton Winterhawks held a volleyball fundraiser on September 14th at the Milton community park. The U12AA Milton Winterhawks are for kids born in 2013 (age 11) who want to place Ice Hockey in Milton. Their
mission is to bring to kids a quality hockey experience that postievely impacts the lives of all participants. No child is left behind, no one person is valued more than the other. They seek to carry out fair competition and strive to achieve the highest level of success for each player.
Arts Milton’s Ontario Culture Days are in full swing, and this year’s theme, World Dance, has already brought a vibrant cultural exchange to the community. The World Dance Collaboration, which took place on September 21st, featured a stunning fusion of Ballet, Bhangra, and Bharatanatyam, combining ballet’s elegance with Bhangra’s vibrant energy and Bharatanatyam’s expressive storytelling.
