On April 6th there was a World Autism Awareness Celebration in Milton at St. Louis Bar & Gril thanks to Milton Autism. Families with individuals on the Autism spectrum enjoyed a free brunch in a sensory-friendly atmosphere and a chance to meet other families.
On April 2nd was World Autism Awareness Day in Milton. Milton residents joined Mayor Krantz and dignitaries for the flag raising and proclamation at Milton Town Hall.
Chances are you’ve met Kristina Tesser Derksen more than once. Whether in her work as a Milton Town Councillor, advising clients in her local law practice, assisting families in her past role as a funeral director, or just helping out on a number of volunteer boards, Kristina’s life has been all about service. She and her husband Chris have built their lives in this community, raised their four children here, run their businesses locally, and give back through volunteering and community service.
Over the last 5 years I’ve fought with everything I’ve got for Milton, and we should all be proud of the results – because it’s always a team effort. Together, we’ve worked hard, achieved some remarkable things and our whole community has benefitted.
Coldest Night of the Year walk provides participants the opportunity to experience some of the challenges the homeless face and the importance of community support. On February 22nd at the Milton Sports Centre 27 teams and over 180 walkers took part to raise funds for Milton Transitional Housing (MTH).

On February 21st at the Barn Door Café in Milton a Business Owners Meet-Up was organized by Anne Murdock, coowner of DMDC Air Duct Cleaning. It was a star studded affair with both well known local business owners as well as new faces. Milton Strong cofounder Jeffrey Pereira along with group moderator Stephanie Lupo was also in attendance.
On February 17th, Troy Newton one of Milton’s long time business owners and community supporter lost his wife Angie Ritchie to her battle with cancer.
On February 22nd at the Connect Centre in Milton the Women Empowerment Alliance held their annual Women’s day celebration. It’s main purpose was to recognize and appreciate the hardworking women who manage businesses and actively contribute to the community.
