The Coldest Night of the Year walk has been celebrated in Canada since 2011. It’s aim is for to bring together family and friends to raise money for the hungry, homeless and hurting in 65 communities across Canada.
On January 25th the Milton Chinese Canadian Association (MCCA) held their 2025 Lunar New Year Celebration at the Milton Mall. It included live music and dances as well as a Dragon display. There were also arts tables for Milton Youth to create Lunar New Year arts and crafts. You can learn more about the organization at their website miltonchinese.org

2025 is forecasted to be a difficult year. Milton’s local municipal property tax is increasing over 9% while unemployment is worsening. The economy is threatened by the incoming United States administration. Our federal budget deficit continues to grow which hinders our ability to fight any future recession. The Town of Milton is in court battling CN Railroad on the harmful impacts their Intermodal will have on our community.

Milton was host to the 1st Annual Inter-Masjid Badminton Tournament in December thanks to the Islamic Community Center of Milton – ICCM It was a chance for men’s badminton teams from masjids in Milton, Mississauga and Brampton to compete. There was a total of 10 different teams taking part as well as volunteers, officials and spectators. All the spectators had “courtside” seats and there was samosas and refreshments available.
The Milton Council of the Knights of Columbus is once again hosting Milton’s Valentine Dinner and Dance on Saturday February 15th at Granite Ridge Golf Club in Milton. The Valentine’s Gala is dedicated to supporting the Townsend Smith Foundation (TSF). This annual event is not only a celebration of love and community, but also a meaningful way to contribute to a cause that will impact many lives.
Where else but Milton can a Catholic be invited to a Protestant church, sit down with both Christians and Hindu’s for an Islamic hosted meal. The monthly Milton Community Dinner series occurs on the first Thursday of every month at Grace Church. It’s organized and hosted by a different Milton group each month.
The Community Foundation of Halton North (CFHN) has been providing grants to charities in Milton and Halton Hills since 2015.
The Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation (TJSF), in partnership with Halton Regional Police and Downtown Milton held the 16th annual “Miracle on Main Steet” in Milton on December 7th sponsored by Wallace Chevrolet and Scotiabank.
Milton Allendale is a well known Long Term Care facility in Milton where since 2020 a dedicated group of volunteers have been has “Lighting Up Allendale” each Christmas. Bringing Christmas cheer to many elderly Milton residents.
