Seven months ago, Zee Hamid was elected and sworn in as your MPP for Milton Riding, which he is incredibly honored to be.
Zee was a town councillor for over 12 years and a resident of Milton for much longer. In fact, a good part of his adult life has been spent ensuring Milton remains a beautiful place to live, work, and raise a family.
When asked how being the MPP for Milton Riding has impacted him, Zee stated, “It has been a pleasure connecting with so many of you at local events and meetings. We have shared “I absolutely love being the MPP for Milton” meals at BBQs, picnics, and special functions, cheered and applauded at graduations and award ceremonies, and supported each other during times of respect and while grieving the deep loss of our community members.”
Zee holds a special place for education and hearing the voices of the youth in our community. “I have been thrilled to visit so many local schools and attend virtual school tours of Queen’s Park to discuss provincial politics. I received letters from teens who are part of a club at the Milton Library and have invited them to my office to hear their concerns. I am very proud of doing what I can to encourage and support young people from our community, including awarding Provincial Scrolls for graduations and personal achievements.”
“I held a BBQ in the summer with my team, which welcomed over 2,000 guests. It was such an amazing way to foster a sense of community. We had booths for local non-profit groups, henna, face painting, and even inflatable castles for the kids! Months later, I still receive emails from guests about the connections they made at the BBQ. It warms my heart.
I love it when the community unites. Over the last few months, I’ve celebrated so many diverse occasions, including Diwali, Eid, and Christmas. In the summer, I handed out popsicles to kids at local playgrounds, dressed up for Halloween at the Tiny Tots Trick-or-Treat, and jumped on the CP Holiday Train last month to help raise money, food, and awareness for our local food banks. I closed off this fantastic year at the annual Miracle on Main Street Event hosted by the Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation.
One of my favorite initiatives this summer includes our Beautiful Garden Awards. I wanted to be able to show appreciation for those who keep Milton Riding so beautiful, including all the gardeners who work so hard to create a space for pollinators. I was able to visit so many homes and learn so much about the art of gardening. I have been inspired to grow my own garden because of them!”
When asked what he would like the community to know about his role as MPP, Zee explained, “I am invested in your ideas and concerns, your celebrations, and successes. I will continue to knock on doors to engage in conversations and proudly attend local events and meetings. I want to assist you when you need me. And of course, as your MPP and your neighbour in Milton, I sincerely wish you and your loved ones peace, joy, and prosperity in 2025.”
