October 12th was World Hospice and Palliative Care Day. The Townsend Smith Foundation (TSF) marked the day bringing awareness to hospice care with a series of events throughout the week culminating in a vigil Thursday October 10, 2019 at Chris Hadfield Park. The vigil started at nightfall with a series of readings accompanied by acoustic music.
A massive thank you to The Cliff Barron Team for raising an amazing $468.75 through proceeds from their 4th Annual Pumpkin Giveaway this past weekend. Cliff Barron and his team were at Beaty Trail Park on October 20th giving away pumpkins to Milton families and accepting donations for Milton’s local hospital foundation. “We are so grateful that you chose Milton District Hospital Foundation to be the beneficiary of your event. The EOSCL-Event Ontario Softball Cricket League held their Championship event recently and you could feel the high energy all around. Whether the teams took first place or not the support and encouragement of each other was obvious. As in in soccer, and other sports, Cricket has two levels. The Premier teams and the Division teams.
On April 1, 2019 Dana Hale opened her new store taking over Ditto’s Boutique on Main Street and you can feel the excitement about it in her voice. The store is loaded with fresh new and close to new clothes, shoes, jewelry, wallets and a whole lot of amazing handbags and many of them by designer Kate Spade that Dana calls “super cute” and other designer names.
Members of Milton’s Hindu Community gathered at the Milton Lions Club Hall to mark the annual nine day festival of Navaratri. Halton Gurjati Samaj hosted the ninth annual Garba Ni Raat on September 27. The festival is celebrated for nine days across India. It marks the passing of the seasons from summer to autumn. It is associated with a battle of good over evil.
Sometimes it only takes one person with an idea and ta..ta… it happens. Susan Capone (Event coordinator) decided it would be a great idea to host a community event including dogs since she is a dog lover herself and owns a rescue German Shepherd named Brady who is about 6 years of age. With her idea and some advertising on social media the word got out pretty fast and many came out to BarkFest bringing their dogs with them.
The popular Puslinch Fiddle Orchestra is set to Fiddle Through the Seasons in a country music and variety show at St. Paul’s United, 123 Main St. E. in Milton, on Saturday afternoon, November 23, 2019 at 2 p.m. This Orchestra from Aberfoyle, under the direction of Paul McDonald, will play toe-tapping music that takes us through the four seasons, music composed by Graham Townsend, Brian Hebert, Ned Landry, Bruce Armitage and more. Of note is the very beautiful Snow Waltz composed by Thoman Koschat, 1845 to 1018!

The all-male singing group is set to play the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton November 16th. The group first formed in 1996, and has 18 members. Their website describes them as “a group of men who found out that they like to sing together and have been doing so for a couple of decades.”
Milton once more heard the moans of zombies and chills of fright as the 10th annual Milton Haunted House was held once again inside Milton Mall on October 26th & 27th. The fundraiser for Milton District Hospital Foundation (MDHF) also included a silent auction, raffle, face painting, Sneezy the Clown, Super Heroes and even Colonel Sanders made a surprise visit.“Milton Mall is happy to continue to be the host for Milton Haunted House”, said Bianca Colangelo, Marketing Coordinator from the mall. “It’s an amazing event and we are happy to be a sponsor for Milton District Hospital Foundation.” The line-ups started before noon on the weekend with a constant stream of people making their way through the haunted house.
