Teachers at Milton District High School have been recognized with a national award for their innovative delivery of environmental sustainability curriculum in the school’s ‘I-Th ink about Science’ program. Presented by the EdCan Network, the 2019 Ken Spencer Award for Innovation in Teaching and Learning showcases the work of teachers who create relevant learning experiences for students while solving complex societal issues.

The Health and Wellness Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) students of Milton District High School participated in HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) on March 25th and 26th. Taking place at the Metro Toronto Convention, HOSA is a two day competition for students that wish to pursue a career in healthcare.
Teens who signed up for the Mentorship Programme with Artists from the Fine Arts Society of Milton at the First Ontario Art Centre in March 2019 expressed their need for their mentors to take time to give tips, correct mistakes and offer encouragement.This year for 4 Sunday afternoons the volunteer mentors from FASM were: leader Ursula McDermid- acrylic painter and pastellist; Kirsty Rutter-acrylics; Jenny Panda- acrylics, mixed media and illustration.During the sessions, other artists joined the group: Shelley Prior-water colourist, Linda Johnston-fabric art and sewing and Louise Botha -painter, art as therapy, art as a career.
Milton’s Ahmadiyya Muslims have a pathway to peace. Th ey unveiled it at a Dinner for Muslims event January 23, 2019 at Paramount Fine Foods. “We’re reaching out to the community and giving them an opportunity to learn about Islam. What better way to do that than enjoying a delicious meal together,” Advocacy Director Maqbool Sheikh said.
Canadian Indian Association celebrates India’s 70th Republic Day in Milton On Saturday January 26th the Canadian Indian Association held a celebration for India’s 70th Republic Day. Th e event had a great turn out of community members, volunteers, organizers and talented local dancers and singers.
