In Milton, 2017 was the first year that local women gathered for an annual march through the downtown to recognise International Women’s Day.Mayor Gord Krantz encouraged those present to “Capture the moment! A first only happens once in a lifetime. Today is a small part of something global. How do mighty oak trees grow? We plant a little seed.”

A buzz of voices, and array of smells greeted visitors to the Muslim Womenpreneurs show. The third annual event was held at Milton’s Teatro Conference Centre March 8, and 9. It was a festive mood as people made their way through vendor tables in a grand ballroom.
Vendors displayed everything from cosmetics, and traditional dresses to teas, and a wide variety of services.

The Board of Directors of the Downtown Milton Business Improvement Area (BIA) is pleased to welcome Rachel Shuttleworth as the new Executive Director for the organization.
Rachel has a background in strategic management, marketing and communications and has worked extensively in the non-profit and public sectors. Most recently, she worked at Futurpreneur Canada promoting and managing programs to help young entrepreneurs start, buy and grow businesses.

Families, volunteers and key community members congregated en masse at the Milton Sports Centre for the Coldest Night of the Year walk-a-thon on Saturday, February 25.
The national walk to raise money for homelessness is a cross-Canada event and rolls out hourly across the nation. Communities set their goal and select which organization receives the raised funds.

The ESCARPMENT PROBUS met on March 15th, 2017 at Milton Memorial Arena on Thompson Road in Milton to celebrate National PROBUS month in Canada. Mayor Gordon Krantz was invited to be an honored guest at the event.
The Milton Centre for the Arts seemed at first to be an elaborate movie set for some lavish Hollywood event: then gradually Miltonians were brought back to earth with hugs, chats and laughter amongst the familiar crowd. They had gathered together in honour of their beloved Mayor Gord Krantz.
