The spirits were high during the Community Foundation of Halton North’s grant recipient celebration on May 25, 2017. In attendance were six lucky organizations who are receiving funding from CFHN including ADAPT Halton, the Bob Rumball Association for the Deaf, the Darling Home for Kids, the FirstOntario Art Centre Milton, Milton Transitional Housing, and the United Way of Halton & Hamilton.

The dismal skies and consistent rainfall did not dissuade more than 800 Miltonians from their volunteer duties on Milton Good Neighbours Community Day – May 6, 2017. Attendees included singular do-gooders who created clean-up teams, as well as representation from various community groups including the Milton Youth Club, Beavers, the Muslim Association of Milton, and the Pakistani Canadian Council of Milton.

“One of the intrinsic goals of the Fine Arts Society of Milton (FASM) has been to engage the community in art appreciation, with an emphasis on local talent.” said FASM President Ursula McDermid as she described how in November of 2015, she met with the officials of the Milton District Hospital Expansion to consider bringing local art to the newly developed hospital.

In order to better remember, respect and recognise those who have served their country, Milton Branch 136 of the Royal Canadian Legion’ revitalized its displays at the Remembrance Hall and was open to the public on April 2nd. 2017. This first phase featured a WW1 gallery in conjunction with the 100th Anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. Eventually memorabilia from WW2 and later conflicts will be displayed.
