Please stand with us NOW against the proposed CN Milton Logistics Hub (inter-modal terminal) planned for Britannia and Tremaine Roads (and flanked by Lower Base Line). This massive, 400-acre, heavy-industrial facility will add 1,600 transport trucks PER DAY to our roads and does not belong in this proposed location.
The beginnin Artists group owes a lot to happenstance as local artists g of the Escarpment came together to lend their creative talents to the Rotary Clubs ‘Camel Race’ fundraiser back in 2013.
“We had a really fun time together,” says Diana Tuszynski, artist and business owner, “so why don’t we take this group and do something with it. We decided it would be fun to show together, as it would be an efficient use of our time as well as to pool our resources.”
The Rotary Club of Milton makes up a team of good Samaritans who are committed to raising and distributing funds for important community causes. Their history within our town stretches more than 65 years. On May 28, 2019, Rotarians gathered with supporters to announce the recipients of their various awards and donations.
Milton Muslim Moms, along with its community partners, was proud to host the first interfaith iftaar for the Milton community on May 15th at the Milton Fairgrounds. The goal of this event was to bring people of all backgrounds together to promote unity. Many community religious leaders along with the honorable Member of Parliament Lisa Raitt and members of Milton Town Council were in attendance.
May, 2019 was Cystic Fibrosis Awareness month. Kin Canada has been in a fundraising partnership with Cystic Fibrosis Canada in 1964. May 11, 2019 the group held their 11th annual Steak Dinner and Dance with Karaoke inside the banquet room at the Milton Sports Centre.
May 4, 2019 kicked off another spring clean-up in the town of Milton as part of the 27th Annual Good Neighbours Community Day. As always, dismal grey weather did not deter over 1000 people from congregating at Milton’s Town
Hall on Mary Street and contributing to the event’s best turn-out yet.
The rafters were ringing at the Country Heritage Park Gambrel Barn on the moonlit Saturday night of April 27th as the 6th Denim and Diamonds Gala presented by the Milton Rotary Club was in the house!
The goal was to have some serious fun with participants showing off their country roots, boots, and line dancing skills. Rebecca Hunter, Milton Rotary President observed, “It’s not formal and people enter relaxed from the get-go. I think they have fun cracking out their cowboy hats and there’s no having to coax people onto the dance floor, that’s for sure!”
On May 9th the honorary Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau was in attendance at an Iftar dinner at the Milton Banquet & Conference Centre to break fast alongside members of Milton’s muslim community. This festive Iftar dinner was organized by the, “Canadian-Pakistan Foundation of Friendship” (CPFA) with over 300 people attending the exclusive event, displaying the strength of the Pakistani Muslim community in Milton. This exclusive event also hosted the presence of multiple members of Parliament, politicians and businessmen from the Greater Milton Area (GMA), connecting and socializing with the community.
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch (RCL) 136 was the place to be April 19 as they hosted a fish fry in their basement club rooms. The area was crowded, and buzzing with conversation as over 100 people gathered for an evening of cheer and camaraderie to mark the start of the Easter long weekend.
Hospices are residential palliative facilities dedicated to the care of patients near the end of their lives due to life-limiting illnesses, and their families. The provincial government leaves their establishment up to communities.
