Hello, my name is Rick Di Lorenzo and I’m running for Milton Town Council Ward 1. I live in Milton with my family and have deep roots in the community. I spend my time supporting residents, local businesses and community groups.
It may not have had fireworks or been at the Milton Fairgrounds this year. But Milton still celebrated Canada Day in style on July 1st at Victoria Park by Milton Town Hall. The Town of Milton provided the venue while the Milton Knights of Columbus provided much of the labour force.
The Canadian Multiculturalism Day in Milton was held on June 28th at the Milton Lions Club and was a testament o the rich diversity and vibrant cultural tapestry of the Milton community. They brought people together from various backgrounds to share in the joy of our collective heritage through music, dance and culinary delights from around the world.
The “Finding the Friendship” musical play was held at the First Ontario Arts Centre of Milton and was a beautiful display highlighting friendship and kindness. The musical play was part of the Montessori School of Milton (MSM) annual concert series. They follow a child-centered philosophy designed to allow freedom for children and foster confidence, intelligence and independence.
As Milton continues to grow and evolve, so too does the spirit of care and connection that binds our community together. One organization embodying that spirit is Heart to Home Meals, a service built on a simple but powerful belief: life should get easier as you age.
The Annual ICNA Milton Fest was held on June 29th at the Milton Community Sports Park and it offered free burgers, hot dogs and drinks to all Milton residents. The annual event is put on each year by the Islamic Community Centre of Milton (ICCM), a Project of ICNA.
The Milton Oldstars were formed in 1980 with the motto of playing Hockey and giving back to Milton. They have raised roughly 1 million dollars for the Milton Community including over $800,000 for the Milton District Hospital Foundation and $100,000 for Milton Student Bursaries.
The Milton Sea and Navy League Cadets have been quite busy during the 2024- 2025 training year! Sharing the same academic year with schools, young Miltonians ages 9-12 and 12-19 can take part in two of the after-school free youth programs sponsored by the Milton Branch of the Navy League of Canada.
Last month was the the 10th Anniversary of the Queen’s Badminton Club. An AllLadies Badminton Club that has been running in Milton since 2015.
