The Dads of Milton (DoMs) recently ran their second annual homerun derby and charity fundraiser, Step Up to the Plate (SUP) 2.0. Held at Lions Park on Saturday August 31. Attracting over 350 guests, the DoMs raised over $7000 for Halton Women’s Place.
Dozens of local and international artists, business and community leaders packed the Milton Holiday Inn on August 21st to raise much needed funds for the Sahara Cancer Hospital in a remote area of Pakistan.
The Sahara fundraiser was the second event in Milton to raise funds for this initiative during the summer. On August 17th the Multicultural Azadi Festival included international musical artist Abrar Ul Haq who is also the founder and chairman of the Sahara for Life Trust foundation which is sponsoring the hospital in Narowal, Pakistan.
The 4th Annual Multicultural Azaadi Festival on August 17th at the Milton Velodrome was another successful community event. Over 10,000 people attended the all day event including families from across the GTA that packed the arena and surrounding areas for the family-friendly festivities.
August 13th, 2019 was cause for celebration as families gathered to observe Eid ul Adha, at a gathering hosted by local food blogger and Instagram star Tabassum Wyne of Kashmiri Foodie. Wyne partnered with the Milton Federal Liberal Association and new Liberal candidate Adam van Koeverden, and the party was held at their Main Street office in downtown Milton.
The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is a sect of Hinduism. On August 24, 2019 ISKCON Milton gathered at Grace Anglican Church mark the first appearance of Lord Krishna, who first appeared 5200 years ago.
The weather gods smiled down on the 8th annual Italia Fest 2019 presented in collaboration with LaRose Specialty Foods and Fine Italian Bakery on Sunday, August 18th bestowing a sunny afternoon for the outdoor family festival and fundraiser.
The 39th Annual Strawberry Fair took place on Saturday, June 22 – a day which just might have been the most beautiful in the summer of 2019 thus far. Presented as always by the Milton District Hospital Auxiliary, the event drew crowds from all over the city.
ITALIAFEST IS BA Home!! The Italian Canadian Club of Milton (ICCM) celebrating it’s CK at our New 50th Anniversary and La Rose Specialty Foods and Fine Italian Bakery will be hosting this collaborative, ItaliaFest 2019, on Sunday August 18th from
11:00-6:00pm at the Italian Canadian Club of Milton located at 104 Tremaine Road just south of Kelso in Milton.
The 3rd Annual tournament is being held on August 29th at Granite Ridge Golf Course in Milton. The local fundraiser is organized by Fred Smith – a local veteran who’s spent years helping other veterans overcome PSTD and drug addiction. Lunch and registration is at 11:30am with the golf tournament portion starting at 1pm. There will be live auctions as well as guest speakers. According to Cliff Barron, it’s alive and well! The Milton market is strong, as homes are consistently in demand and this has been a good year so far. Plus, the mortgage interest rates are still good, he says.
