October 16th outside the Home Depot Plaza marked the 9th edition of Game On Street Hockey Tournament which has raised over $27,000 for the Reach out Centre for Kids (ROCK).

The weather listened to the Mayor of Milton and the rain didn’t come! All day long both kids and adults were having a blast. This was marked the return of the physical in-person event (last year was virtual) and it was held in a controlled environment where attendees had to show proof of vaccination at the entrance before being admitted. MC Chris Mei helped officiate the event and kept the energy going throughout the day.

Game participants included people and teams of all ages including young Ryan McLachlan who raised $635.20 in donations winning the 1st David Angelis Memorial Award as the top fundraising participant. Also, congratulations to Alex Peixe, the recipient of the 1st Alex Palij Memorial Award, which was given to the player that displayed the most Heart. Ryan’s father, Rod McLachlan has been one of the organizers working with event founder Angelo Posteraro from day one 9 years ago. Rod is happy to see the event continuing to support the ROCK has it’s a local organization that offers mental health services to youth and families in Milton. “Kids go through tough times, whether it be divorce, or the loss of a loved one. All of these things we’re seeing in earnest. The R.O.C.K.; they’re great in offering the solutions.” McLachlan said. “

“We believe in our hearts that they’re the right cause to support. So far, we have raised just under $27,000 WOW! Within a pandemic is totally incredible. It’s an accomplishment that brings a tear to my eyes. I’m so lucky to have an amazing group of people on the organizing committee that made this all happen.” added Posteraro.
