The Shopper’s Drug Mart Run for Women, brought to you by the LOVE YOU by Shoppers Drug Mart™ program is the largest fundraising initiative for mental health services in the Halton community. Although this is not a new initiative for Shoppers Drug Mart, it is NEW for the Milton community as this is only the second year Milton District Hospital Foundation has been included as one of the beneficiaries. Milton District Hospital Foundation is encouraging the community to register to run/walk and show the other regions in this nationwide event what Milton can do!

Dr. Carolyn Malec, Community Family Physician and Hospitalist at Milton District Hospital says, “I’ve been participating in the Run for Women over the past few years with other physicians, friends and family. As a family physician,

I see the devastating effects of anxiety and depression on women every single day in my office and at Milton District Hospital. The mental health effects of the COVID-19 crisis have only exacerbated these illnesses and women often feel the fatigue and isolation of this pandemic differently than men.”

Consider creating your own MILTON team for this year’s VIRTUAL Shopper’s Run for Women on July 4-11, 2021. It’s an event for everyone – runners, non-runners, walkers, women, men and children! Register online at RUNFORWOMEN.CA and click Oakville under Cities. All registrants and fundraising dollars raised in Milton directly support the Milton District Hospital Foundation.

“The hospital HAS been there and IS there for me. I am here for the hospital and participating in this walk is just a small token of what I can do,” said Margaret Saliba, community member and MDHF supporter.
