Olive Krantz, the beloved wife of Mayor Gordon Krantz and Milton’s 1st Lady passed away on December 31st 2024 just before the start of the new year.

Olive Krantz, nee Olive Margaret Johnson and Gordon Arthur Krantz were first married on June 28th 1958 at Grace Anglican Church in Milton. Mrs. Janette Ledwith played the organ with Milton Reverand Powell officiating. Olive worked at the time at the Ontario Steel plant in Milton which produced springs for the Railroad and Automobile Industries while Gordon worked at Green’s Motors in Campbellville.

Olive was an extremely strong woman and fiercely loyal, when the Mayor started serving on Milton Town Council he would list his home phone number as his contact number. When residents called the number to speak to the Mayor, it would be Olive that frequently answered the phone. She would at times surprise phone callers with her no-nonsense direct way of speaking. She was “The Boss” as often described by Mayor Krantz. When someone asked her how she was doing she would often respond with “any better and I’d be dangerous”. Olive took as one of her responsibilities the job of stopping the Mayor from getting too swelled a head.
