The Canadian Indian Association (CIA) celebrated India’s 76th Indian Independence Day with its second Annual multi-city Drive-thru car parade on Saturday, 20th August 2022.
The car parade started at the Milton Sports Centre. The Milton Mayor, Mr. Gordon Krantz and the Consulate General of India, Mrs. Apoorva Srivastava, flagged off over 40 cars.
Each town’s Canadian Indian community came out to participate in the events. At each location, the CIA hoisted the flag and sang the Canadian and Indian National Anthems, and the dignitaries shared their thoughts on the occasion.
In his speech, the President of the CIA, Mr. Jag Mohan Mainra said, “We love being the residents of Halton region; Canada has encouraged us to value our heritage and pay homage to it, all by Diksha Pal Narayan the while still being proud Canadians. We hope that this is just the beginning of something unique and long-lasting. We would like to thank all four city departments for giving us permission and making our event a success. It would not have been possible without the city’s support.
