The Annual ICNA Milton Fest was held on June 29th at the Milton Community Sports Park and it offered free burgers, hot dogs and drinks to all Milton residents. The annual event is put on each year by the Islamic Community Centre of Milton (ICCM), a Project of ICNA.
The Milton Sea and Navy League Cadets have been quite busy during the 2024- 2025 training year! Sharing the same academic year with schools, young Miltonians ages 9-12 and 12-19 can take part in two of the after-school free youth programs sponsored by the Milton Branch of the Navy League of Canada.
Last month was the the 10th Anniversary of the Queen’s Badminton Club. An AllLadies Badminton Club that has been running in Milton since 2015.
Milton Muslim Moms recently hosted a powerful Fundraiser and Awards Night, uniting residents, community leaders, and partners for an evening of compassion and celebration. The event raised critical funds to support food security, newcomer assistance, and youth empowerment programs across Milton and Halton.
The annual Milton TIGER OPEN Golf Tournament helpd raise $230,000 which will go to the purchase of toys, food and life essentials of families in need; children in hospitals; and funding public school initiatives such as mental health, nutrition, inclusive classrooms and literacy.
Milton District HospitalFoundation (MDHF) held their Community Partner Appreciation Night on June 4th at the Milton Banquet Centre. MDHF used the event to say thank you for the incredible support that community partners did for our hospital and to celebrate a successful year of fundraising.
On May 30th at Milton Town Hall acting Mayor Sarah Marshall joined Prism (Halton’s 2SLGBTQIA+ Group) in raising the Pride Flag. Sheena Drennan was recognized by the Milton District Hospital Auxiliary for 65 years of service. She received the Rita Ward award and 65-year pin. Below are her own words.
“How is it possible 65 years have gone by when all this time I have enjoyed working along with the kindest, most caring and dedicated volunteers to provide excellent patient care and raise funds to purchase much needed equipment. “
The 2nd Annual EidFest was held on June 14th at Islamic Community Centre of Milton (ICCM) and was an unforgettable day of family friendly activities to celebrate the joy of Eid.
With regret, the Halton Agricultural Society (HAS) has announced that it will not be hosting the Canada Day celebration at the Milton Fairgrounds this year, due to financial shortfalls and a decline in volunteer availability. However, the celebration will continue at Victoria Park and HAS remains committed to supporting the event. They are also exploring options to return to the Milton Fairgrounds in 2026.
