Can you believe it? This year it’s the 20th annual Milton Christmas House Tour for United Way. Styles and homes may have changed over 20 years but one thing hasn’t – for many of us Christmas holds a special place in our lives and as do the traditions that we form around it.
Masks, music, and dancing provided a Venetian backdrop as the Italian Canadian Club of Milton (ICCM) hosted its fifth annual Venetian Gala. This year’s edition took place October 22, 2017 at Granite Ridge Golf Club.
For 25 years, the Milton Leisure Centre has offered recreation experiences for Miltonians of all ages, including fitness, aquatics and special interest programs.
The Rohingya are a Muslim minority group indigenous to the Rakhine state of Myanmar. They have suffered persecution since 1982, when the state stripped them of their citizenship.
September 16th marked Milton’s second Annual Hope in High Heels, a men’s only walk in heels to support ending violence against women. Walkers of all ages collected pledges to help raise funds for Halton Women’s Place, which provides a safe haven without abuse for women and their children.
In 2011, Milton’s arts and cultural scene changed forever with the opening of the Milton Centre for the Arts. Now rebranded at the First Ontario Arts Centre Milton, the building continues to play host to a series of both local and national presentations, as well as fine arts exhibitions, and arts programs for all ages.
Niators organized their 2nd annual Back to School Drive on Aug 27th at the Streetsville Village Square. The drive was to raise school supplies for both Halton and Peel Regions. They had activities such as face painting, sack races, ring toss and the main highlight of the event was a live exotic animal show.
Over 5000 people attended the Mega Azadi Festival on August 13, 2017 at the Milton Velodrome to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary of confederation and Pakistan’s 70th anniversary of independence.
St. Abanoub is a Coptic child saint who sacrificed himself as a martyr at the age of 11. For the last four years Milton’s Coptic Christian Church holds a festival marking the sacrifice. Abanoub’s feast day was July 31, 2017. This year’s edition was held July 29.

July 8 marked the 4th Annual Milton Muslim Moms Eid Dinner held at the Milton Seniors Activity Centre. The hall was filled with guests of all ages revelling in the celebration of Eid, and the end of Ramadan – a month’s worth of fasting from sunrise to sunset.
