On September 18th, the Milton Sea Cadets performed a Change of Command Ceremony at their local headquarters, at the Milton Fairgrounds. Lieutenant(N) Andrew Townley commanded the Royal Canadian Se Cadets Corps CHAUDIERE for the past 3 years; and as he now completed his term, he passed command to his former Executive Officer, Lieutenant(N) Paul Simas, who is now the new Commanding Officer.
Lieutenant(N) Simas has nearly 30 years of experience leading cadets, and commanded several other cadet units
around the GTA, including RCSCC VANGUARD, RCSCC ONTARIO, RCSCC SCARBOROUGH and NLCC COMPASS ROSE.
Lieutenant(N) Simas served as the second-in-command of the Milton Sea Cadets for the past 6 years. He is also the co-founder and first Commanding Officer of the Milton Navy League Cadets, NLCC ADVENTURE, a cadet program for younger youth, ages 9-12, and entirely run by volunteers!
The Royal Canadian Sea Cadets Corps CHAUDIERE is a Milton based youth group, and part of Cadets Canada, and one of three cadet units in Milton, along with Army Cadets and Air Cadets. The Sea Cadets program is provided free of any charges or fees, and is co-sponsored by the Department of National Defence and the Navy League of Canada Milton Branch. The Sea Cadet program concentrates on teaching youth ages 12 to 19 nautical and naval subjects, such as sailing, seamanship, marching drill, marksmanship and you can find out much more at miltonseacadets.com
