As Associate Minister of Auto Theft and Bail Reform, Zee Hamid is ready to tackle crime and make Ontario a safer place to live, work and play. Stepping into this role feels like a natural next step for Zee. Prior to his appointment, he hosted an open forum where residents could share their concerns. He was joined by predecessor Graham McGregor, Mayor Krantz and the Halton Regional Police to discuss prevention strategies and community goals.

As Associate Minister, Zee will continue to collaborate with local law enforcement and the municipality to address the community’s concerns. He also plans to advocate for meaningful bail reform to the Federal government.

“I’m working very, very hard to make sure that we bring the auto theft rates down. It will have a direct pocketbook impact because it will bring auto insurance rates down and make our communities safe,” he explains.

On April 23rd, the Associate Minister announced a groundbreaking new anti-auto theft tool at the Halton Regional Police Service headquarters. Developed by Carfax Canada, the VIN Fraud Check tool will help protect vehicles from theft and make it easier to track and recover stolen cars.

Zee hopes to support more projects and initiatives aimed at preventing theft and bringing justice to criminals.
