On August 3rd the Hindu Canadian Foundation organized its 6th Annual Kawad Yatra in Milton. Over 150 devotees (Kawadiyas) took part in a 7km long yatra (walk) starting at the Milton Community Park. Seeking blessings of the Hindu God Shiva for the health and wellness of all people. The Parade Procession helped celebrate unity and spreading peace, love and compassion. Participants were given a bottle of holy water (Ganga Jal) which they carried during the walk and brought to the temple (Vaishno Devi Temple on Hwy 25).

The procession was well organized with volunteers ensuring people stayed hydrated with plenty of water and vegetarian pound cake was also available and handed out during the walk. Halton Regional Police accompanied the entire procession helping the organizers ensure safety was ensured the entire walk. The walk concluded at the Vaishno Devi Temple in North Oakville where after the ceremonies were concluded food and refreshments were provided to all attendees.
