“The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) of the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) was established in 2021 to provide youth in our region with a platform to share their perspectives, organize events such as Pizza with the Police that facilitate open communication, and foster environments where young people feel comfortable participating in important discussions with police. On behalf of the HRPS and the YAC, thank you to everyone who attended and showed their support.” – Youth Advisory Council (YAC)

“The members of our Youth Advisory Council (YAC) are not only exceptionally talented and engaged, but they oer us a window into the minds of their peers. Together, we collaborate to identify what matters most to young people, brainstorm ways to help amplify their voice to advocate for themselves and others, and consider how we as a Service can help meet the needs of youth in our community. e Pizza with Police event was a fantastic example of how breaking down barriers often starts with an open mind and willingness to listen to each other. We look forward to organizing similar events to keep up the amazing momentum our YAC members have generated.” – HRPS Sergeant Jacqueline Ross ere were multiple police groups involved, including Journey a Halton Support Dog who was especially popular at the event.
