Milton Golfers were invited to tee off for a miracle on June 15, 2018. It was the fifth annual golf tournament organized by the Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation (TJSF) in support of its annual Miracle on Main fundraiser. It drew participants from Southern Ontario, and as far away as Vietnam.

The warm, sun-filled day was kicked off by lunch and a ceremonial tee-off outside the clubhouse. Golfers in groups of four spread out across the ruby course. Patrick Burgess and his group came from the Niagara Falls area. They were dressed in shirts from the four previous years, having attended every year since it started. “It’s a tremendous event,” Burgess said of the golf tournament. The tournament was sold out within five days. Its popularity spreads by word of mouth. “They don’t even advertise.”

Burgess was part of what he called Team Tiger. He has attended all events, including yearly toy delivery trips to McMaster Children’s Hospital. “It’s very, very touching to see all the children at McMaster so humbled by all the presents they received,” Burgess said. Miracle on Main St is an annual event held every December. Members of the community donate toys to the Foundation, who then distribute them to kids in the Hospital Sick Children in Toronto, and the McMaster Children’s Hospital in Hamilton.

According to Burgess the event’s popularity is about the Tigers. “Tiger Jeet Singh is a very loving individual who cares for people,” Burgess said. Tiger Jeet Singh Jr. is the TJSF President. “They are tremendous people, who really like helping people.” Burgess said. The 2018 golf tournament raised $105,000. “I think it’s all a testament to all the wonderful people that have come out,” Tiger Jr. said of the turnout.

Tiger Jeet Singh Jr believes the tournament has lasted because of the people. “It’s the people that have made this thing grow.” Tiger Jr. said. They’ve had people on a waiting list for the tournament. He compared it to Miracle on Main St “That event is for the children, this event is for the adults,” he said.

Miracle on Main St. celebrates its tenth anniversary this December. Tiger attributes it to the people. “You can only do so much by yourself. You have to surround yourself with wonderful people. I’m totally blessed to have this unbelievable group of volunteers,” he said. For more information on Miracle on Main, and the Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation visit: www.tigerjeetsinghfoundation.com
