Another tantalizing event by Foodies R Us Canada, run by Opus Communication, took place on August 18th.  Hosted by Paramount Fine Foods in Milton, this event brought together a planned, self-described, food mob that enjoyed a vast variety of Middle Eastern food in a single evening.

Friendly servers brought an array of appetizers such as hummus, fattoush salad, falafel, lentil soup and hot pita bread to whet the appetite.  Main dishes such as kafta kebob, shish tawouk, BBQ striploin beef cubes, grilled onion and much more followed throughout the night. The food was so plentiful that almost every table requested take-home cartons to pack up leftovers.  There were sweet desserts and tea to close the evening. A true family event, there was even a kids menu to satisfy the pickiest of young eaters.

Attendees went home with a dessert box and a gift voucher for a free breakfast at Paramount. The restaurant, which is recently under new management, is owned by Ali Irfan and Shumaila Ali. Both were on hand to greet every guest and ensure that the evening went smoothly.  The sold-out event was attended by over 110 ‘foodies’ including Milton’s own Mayor Gordon Krantz and Town Councillor Rick Di Lorenzo and his family.

“The food mob is a novel idea and I’m excited to be here and try everything,” said Mayor Krantz.

The food mob experience, which is gaining popularity in Canada, is an event that allows members to experience a variety of items on a chosen restaurant’s menu for a single ticket price. Foodies R Us Canada is gaining such a momentum that these events are being planned in several towns and cities across Canada over the next year. It’s an amazing opportunity to sample a plethora of foods that a particular restaurant serves – without eating a hole through the wallet.

While Foodies R Us Canada is a closed group, anyone can join simply by going on the internet. There is a Facebook group ( or one can reach out directly at Members will receive advance notice of future events and information on purchasing a food mob ticket. The next chance to experience a food mob will be in September at another local Milton restaurant.
