Christmas is a time to give back to the community.  The federal New Democratic Party (NDP) in Milton marked its third annual Toy drive on December 16, 2018 at the Brown Pepper Grill.

This year they collected 50 toys over two weeks, and non-perishable food items to give back to Halton Women’s Shelter.  “NDP believes that every child should have a reason to celebrate this holiday season,” President of the Milton NDP Maliha Ahmed said in an email.

The drive is an activity of the youth wing, and included 15 volunteers, as well as Youth Officer Karen Gorsky.  “There are many young people committed to this work and mobilizing their peers to make a difference.  We can always count on their enthusiasm and original ideas to address on today’s issues, and future challenges, Khan-Ahmed said.  Toys collected included markers, Star Wars themed coloring books, and stuffed animals.

Halton Women’s Place services include a 24-hour hotline, outreach services, and two emergency shelters.  For more information visit their website at: www.haltonwomensplace.com
