It’s back! Milton will once again hear the moans of vampires and chills of fright as it braces itself for the 8th annual Milton Haunted House held inside Milton Mall.
Milton Haunted House, setup in a large donated space across from the Bank of Montreal inside the Milton Mall, is open to all ages on Saturday October 28th and Sunday October 29th from noon to 5pm.
“We have played host to the Haunted House since 2011,” said Jenifer Sim, the Marketing Director at the Milton Mall, who is a sponsor for the event. “When I first came across it, it was set up in tents at one of the summer events in Milton and was blistering hot. I thought that it would be amazing to get it moved to the mall and have it happen at the same time as the mall’s annual Mallowe’en Spooktacular that we run for children.”
Entering its eighth year, the initiative has raised over $70,000, which goes towards Milton District Hospital Foundation (MDHF), to help with the purchase of new medical equipment and facility improvements. The goal is to raise $10,000 this year.
Keeping the Milton Haunted House fresh and new each year is enjoyable challenge for event organizers. “Every year we look at adding new surprises and scenarios so you never know what you will be confronted with when you enter” said Milton Haunted House organizer Rick Di Lorenzo. “We try to leverage the creative talents of all our volunteers in coming up with new and thrilling ideas while always keeping it customized for the audience so it’s all out frightful when adults enter but more mild and tame for when children come in”.
The Milton Haunted House first started out in 2006 as a Hawthorne Village neighbourhood attraction setup at the Di Lorenzo home. When it grew in size and popularity threatening to take over the house it was time for it to look for a new home which it did starting in 2011 inside the Milton Mall.
In addition to the Haunted House tour, there are penny raffles, silent auctions, pumpkins, face painting and super hero meet and greets.
