Milton once more heard the moans of zombies and chills of fright as the 10th annual Milton Haunted House was held once again inside Milton Mall on October 26th & 27th. The fundraiser for Milton District Hospital Foundation (MDHF) also included a silent auction, raffle, face painting, Sneezy the Clown, Super Heroes and even Colonel Sanders made a surprise visit.“Milton Mall is happy to continue to be the host for Milton Haunted House”, said Bianca Colangelo, Marketing Coordinator from the mall. “It’s an amazing event and we are happy to be a sponsor for Milton District Hospital Foundation.” The line-ups started before noon on the weekend with a constant stream of people making their way through the haunted house.
Marvin Duarte, taking over from retiring Milton Haunted House committee member Kelly Esselmont put together a volunteer crew to organize and staff the auction and raffle tables. “I want to thank my amazing team for putting the auction and raffle prizes together! Thanks to all our prize donors and sponsors for supporting this great cause”, said Marvin. Other new committee members included Brendan Smyth who joined with Deren Bostanci in leading the construction crew this year. “I was very happy to help out, and make some great new friends along the way. In the spirit of volunteer weekend here in town, consider donating some time to a cause that helps. You will not only make a big difference in people’s lives, you yourself will be enriched with positive gains”, said Brendan. Some of the real contributors to the haunt’s success remains local Milton students. Over 100 of them signed up this year to volunteer.
Many of them putting upwards of over 25+ hours each on weekends before the event helping with setup as well as the event opening weekend itself. Corporate Sponsorship was active and involved this year in both monetary, inkind as well as personal involvement. Long-time sponsor Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation (TJSF) was joined this year by new sponsor Team Tiger Real Estate. “At the Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation and Team Tiger Real Estate we are 100% invested in our community and we are truly grateful for the opportunity to support a fun, family event raising money for our beloved Milton District Hospital”, said Ryan Finn of Team Tiger Real Estate. Other sponsors included Mattamy Homes, Fieldgate Commercial, Milton Mall, Lowes, Milton Hydro and the Milton Canadian Champion Newspaper. Bulk Barn Milton also made a contribution of candy for the loot bags given to families exiting the Haunt. Milton Haunted House would also like to thank our MPP Parm Gill, who unbeknownst to attendees, besides coming to meet and thank the volunteers, also spent a short amount of time volunteering inside as an Actor this year. At press time the final calculation hadn’t yet been totaled, but it’s anticipated that this year’s contribution to Milton District Hospital Foundation will be over $12,000.
