Masks, music, and dancing provided a Venetian backdrop as the Italian Canadian Club of Milton (ICCM) hosted its fifth annual Venetian Gala. This year’s edition took place October 22, 2017 at Granite Ridge Golf Club.

The proceeds from the gala went to the ICCM, and the Milton District Hospital Foundation (M.D.H.F.). The ICCM is seeking to put their name on a prenatal assessment Bay in the Maternal Newborn Department. “We’re helping with the hospital, at the same time, we’re trying to do something with our club as well,” ICCM President Tony Leone said. They are planning to turn the basement into a members’ only club. Leone hoped the evening would raise $15,000.

The fundraiser was a part of MDHF’s ‘cause within a cause’ campaign where individuals, and groups give a donation and place their name on a room, a bench in the new hospital expansion. “They took up this challenge. They said let’s go for it. Let’s go for the prenatal assessment bay,” Mark Appleby said. Appleby is on the board of Directors.

The Milton District Hospital expansion opened October 1, 2017. It took just under three hours to transfer all patients from the ‘north building.’ “We’re raising money for Milton District Hospital, and we’re getting a little culture at the same time,” Arturo Figliomeni said. The gala included a live band featuring Anotenlla Vizzini as a vocalist. The evening was emceed by Guiseppe the MC.
