On September 30 and October 1, six incredible local artists will step on to the “Artists at Work” stage during Milton Culture Days. With varying media, each will create something before your eyes. The line-up includes Christa Strong from Couture Cupcake Boutique who will decorate a cake from start to finish, fabric sculptor Gwen Rousseau of Fabrilicious Creations, the multi-talented henna artist Hamna Ghalib, urban artist and painter Omar “Oms” Hopkinson, calligrapher and painter Salim Khan, and Aja Coore from Salon Jade who will create avant garde hair designs.

Milton Culture Days is part of a larger nation-wide movement – it is a celebration of arts and culture. Hundreds of thousands of artists and cultural organizations in hundreds of cities and towns come together and invite Canadians to participate in free, interactive and “behind the scenes” activities to discover their cultural spirit and passion. Activities span the spectrum of arts and culture including music, dance, theatre, visual arts, craft, technology, language and By Kaitlyn Patience Photos by Justino Magalona are Coming! literature. Food will be available from a popup version of The Lunchbox Café.

The event is organized by Arts Milton – a not-for-profit organization that connects artists of all genres and levels of experience with the greater Milton community, in the spirit of facilitating creative expression and cultural enrichment. Arts Milton will host another large-scale community project at Culture Days this year with muralist Aparna Rangnekar. This year’s collective creation asks participants to create their own painted kite tile, to be added to a wall mural at the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton.

In addition to the above, Milton Culture Days includes over 70 activities by local groups, organizations, businesses and artisans. Below are some of the highlights! Visit milton.on.culturedays.ca to create your Culture Days schedule now.
