On January 26th, a launch party will be held at the Milton Sports Center from 1 to 3 pm for the Coldest Night of the Year. There will be games, crafts, giveaways and much more. The launch party is hosted by Milton Transitional Housing and everyone is welcome to come and learn more about the annual walk set for February 23rd.
The Coldest Night of the Year is a fantastically fun, family-friendly walking fundraiser that raises money for the hungry, homeless and hurting in 100+ communities across Canada.
The WALK is held on Saturday, February 23rd and provides each participant the opportunity to
- Walk 2, 5 or 10 km’s
- Fundraise much needed money for a local, hard-serving charity
- Feel a hint of the challenge faced by those experiencing homelessness – particularly during the winter
Since 2011, the Coldest Night of the Year has raised $21.5 million dollars working with select charity partners. Milton Transitional Housing is a community-based, registered Canadian charity that provides bridge accommodation and supportive counseling to people in Milton who are experiencing a housing crisis. MTH’s program assists participants in overcoming their challenges while they work towards securing their own independent, stable housing.
Th eir goal, “…from HOPE to HOME”, summarizes their belief that lives can be rebuilt with support and assistance from their community.
