With technology use and the popularity of gamification at an all-time high, it’s no surprise that the Milton Public Library, alongside other community partners, are leading the way when it comes to developing the very first public library gaming app of its kind with Quest Milton launching on February 16th, 2018.

Quest Milton is a free gaming app that encourages players to use and visit local services in a fun and creative way. Players collect digital tokens throughout the Town of Milton, which can be exchanged for free and discounted rewards and items, like waived library fines or free drop-in swim passes. Bonus tokens are also available for completing certain tasks or with eligible purchases. Players can unlock one of three mini-games within Quest Milton to collect even more tokens and earn rewards faster. Hundreds of virtual tokens have been scattered around the Town of Milton and from February 16th onward, it is your chance to collect them all with the launch of Quest Milton at App Stores and Google Play.

Milton Public Library strives to inspire the community through discovery, collaboration, and creation. “This is a game changer,” shares Mark Williams, Deputy Chief Librarian of Milton Public Library and the inspiration behind making Quest Milton a reality. He’s also the newly named CEO of Milton Public Library come July 1st of this year. “We wanted to bring something new and innovative to the community of Milton to help drive library use and community engagement. We are excited about the outpouring of interest in the beta version of the game, which was unveiled earlier this year, and we’re building on that momentum with the full scale launch of this gaming app on Friday,” he continues. “We are deeply appreciative to the Province of Ontario for their grant to fund the development of this app and the involvement of our key partners, including Community Services at the Town of Milton and Conservation Halton.

Quest Milton is a free, easy-to-use game for all ages that includes point scoring, competition with others in the community, and encourages users to participate in activities and day-to-day tasks in an entertaining way. Once downloaded, iOS and Android users can sign up with their Milton Public Library card and create a free account in the app. Game playing and token collecting begins immediately upon download.
