Canadian Indian Association celebrates India’s 70th Republic Day in Milton On Saturday January 26th the Canadian Indian Association held a celebration for India’s 70th Republic Day. Th e event had a great turn out of community members, volunteers, organizers and talented local dancers and singers.

Th e program included honouring the Indian fl ag along with Indian and Canadian national anthems followed by a short speech from CIA president/Dignitaries and a cultural program. Refreshments and food was served after the ceremony

Canadian Indian Association is a notfor- profit organization within Halton region to serve as a bridge between various Indian Cultural associations and groups in order to promote India’s cultural heritage, to unite our people by developing a better understanding of India’s diverse culture and to strengthen bi-lateral relations between India and Canada.

Th e president of the CIA (Canadian Indian Association) Jagmohan Mainra welcomed all dignitaries which included the Mayor of Milton (Gord Krantz), Milton’s MPP (Parm Gill), town and regional councilors as well as Mr. D P Singh from the Consul General of India office.

“Th e Indo-Canadian community makes significant contributions to Canadian society in the different ways of areas including art, culture, health and medicine. Our association aim is to increase friendly relationship working together with friends in the mutual interest of our two countries.” said Mr. Mainra
